Stags and hinds for reproduction
Animals for breeding
As we have been strictly selecting on growth potential, steadiness of temperament and antler quality for almost thirty years, we have seen our stags and hinds evolve positively. Today our hinds of at least five years of age weigh 130 to 135 kgs., some even up to 150 kgs. In order to reach such hind weights, we have never made use of wapiti blood, the North American / Canadian line used by some breeders for crossbreeding with their red deer in order to obtain heavier skeletons. We have basically opted for European red deer without any crossbreeding with exotic bloodlines (for that is what wapitis are as they originate from Canada just as much as Canadian geese do).
We have also made a positive impact on our deer’s antler shape and weight and CIC points by selecting strictly and by purchasing premium Central European master stags. Our CIC quotation has been raised by tens of points.
As for sanitary conditions we can offer a few guarantees to our customers:
- Yearly blood tests of our entire breeding stock for brucellosis.
- Yearly tuberculination of our entire breeding stock. We have never had a positive (and therefore bad) outcome for either of these diseases.
- The above blood samples are also subjected to a serological test for para-tuberculosis: we have never had a positive (and therefore bad) result.
- Upon sale, animals are treated with an anti-parasite injection prior to delivery.
We are available for anyone who wishes to start breeding deer or who wishes to improve bloodlines and boost the quality of their calves. In addition, Paul Audenaerde can always be consulted for further professional or veterinary advice at your request.
To newcomers in the deer breeding industry or any existing deer farmer we can offer the opportunity to profit from our investments in high-quality origins and decades of selection.
